I Use: Textmate

Clients will often ask me if I know Dreamweaver. I used to get flustered and tell them, “No, I do not.” I have since changed my stance of embarrassment to a more secure posture. I am a huge fan of tools and automation. I also think there is a lot to be said for using the right tools for the job. As it turns out, Dreamweaver was never the right tool for the job for me. Instead, I found myself being far more productive using an elegant application by Allan Odgaard called Textmate.

Looking back on my use of the application, I have become more attentive to how elegant and readable my code is; whether that be (X)HTML, CSS, Ruby etc. It is a dove-tail fit between the simplicity of the Mac OS and the raw power of UNIX. Tools like this make it a pleasure to be a developer.

Textmate is quite literally the best €39 that I have ever spent.
